Client Overview:

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is the world governing body for the sport of cycling recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The UCI was founded in Paris in 1900, and its headquarters are now located at the UCI’s World Cycling Centre in Aigle, Switzerland.

 

Project Overview:

Mummu Sport was engaged by the UCI as the global exclusive travel partner for the organisation and its key stakeholders for a four year period from 2010 to 2014. The project began through the creation and delivery of a global sub-brand, UCI Travel to deliver travel services and fan engagement packages to UCI staff, international member federations and fans.

UCI Travel launched in October 2010 at the Road World Championships in Melbourne, Australia offering fans from around the world never seen before access and VIP experiences at UCI World Championships in Road, Track, Cyclo-Cross, Mountain Bike and BMX. Mummu Sport developed the online e-commerce portal for the brand, contracted and delivered all packages and managed all global marketing and sales efforts.

Mummu Sport also delivered all corporate travel requirements for the UCI stakeholders including the President, Management Committee, staff, sponsors, commissaries (official umpires) and media. In 2012 Mummu Sport placed an implant travel consultant inside the UCI Headquarters in Aigle to better manage travel requirements.

In 2013 Mummu Sport assisted the UCI in the development of a revised UCI Forum where cycling stakeholders from around the world would meet in Lausanne for a world expo combined with the annual Management Committee meeting where member nations vote on key issues in the sport.

 

What Worked and Why

Mummu Sport was a strong multi-year partner of the UCI delivering new commercial projects and internal cost management strategies within the federation most of which are still in place today.
